JADE's Experience in the Internal Control Department at RCI Financial Services

Hello, my name is Jade and I am currently on my placement at RCI Financial Services as the Internal Control Intern. I study Business with Law at Bournemouth University.

Internal Control is a small yet crucial division of any financial services company. There is never a quiet day. I am always on my feet liaising with everyone from senior managers, to the front-line customer support staff, across the full spectrum of the business. Despite only working here for a few months, I have been entrusted with a level of responsibility where my actions can have a tangible impact on the business at large.

As an Internal Control Intern I play a key role to risk analysis, control and management.  I do various tasks such as: internal inspections, actions monitoring and information security management. I also get the opportunity to present my results of work to senior management in our quarterly committees. The day to day tasks allow you to build key relationships with senior employees around the organisation and means I am never afraid to present any new ideas up the management chain. Being part of the Internal Control team has helped me develop skills that will assist me both academically and in my future career.

Since the start of my placement with RCI, I have been truly valued as an employee and immediately felt an integral part of the team. You are constantly learning new things and the ever-changing environment and responsibility given to me has allowed me to push myself to new heights. The change from University to work life has come effortlessly as a consequence of RCI's environment and for this and many other reasons I would highly recommend a placement with RCI.
